I was called on to host a birthday party and the only request of the birthday girl was a place with a good chocolate dessert. After consulting with her brother, we settled on Bistro du Midi, in part because of the chocolate soufflé and in part because both of us like the food there. Bistro du Midi is perfectly situated on the edge of Boston Public Garden, providing a charming view out the second floor dining room window. The room is gently lit and decorated in a casual, yet smart, fashion. The service is comfortable but professional, friendly but not familiar. Gas LampThe wine list at Bistro du Midi is extensive. There are plenty of good values, but also the opportunity to pay more than $1,000 for a bottle if you need to.
